Wiki Connects McDonalds WiFi

We enjoy a coffee and egg biscuit at McDonald's. Nowadays, in the Covid era, contactless ordering is easy via a mobile app. What don't enjoy is the painful process of connecting to McDonald's WiFi.

We read Wiki has rejected converting its DNS server hosting to https, and it's a good job, because we found on both mobile devices and common laptops, that connecting to via http://fed.wiki (no security) will trigger a page with button on it, to connect to McDonald's WiFi.

We find this situation common, even connecting to WiFi at some public libraries. We tried searching the web to find out the root, but run into dubious technical support pages filled with ad-tech.

Your connected after using http://fed.wiki

Not connected to WiFi using https

Apparently, McDonalds guest WiFi uses a local cluster http://login-mcd-cluster.prd.rcsntx.attwifi.com/guest/mcd2019 php

To reach this, first connect to wiki, via http.
