Another Brick in the Firewall

YOUTUBE tohIX-m4ZD8 This talk was delivered on June 7th 2019 for the: We Are Developers conference in Berlin, Germany page

In this talk, Andreas discusses the new models of security that we have developed over time to function within the global societies and open networks of the information economy. He warns against the pitfalls of relying on third parties and bureaucratic institutions when we fail to scale trust, within a city surrounded by historical relics from outdated and oppressive security models.

Andreas discusses Firewalls fail because trade needs to flow, so that gates are opened for trade to flow. So layers of secuirty are added at the gates, this also fails. His solution is an open marketplace underpinned by public blockchain.

I subscribe to his general direction but not to the inferred details. I subscribe to Agoric's details based on capabilities or the principle of least authority.
